Please watch tonight's forum on KADYTV.net. Mr.
Dunn is not a reliable narrator. Not only does
he insert his own opinion as if he were quoting
the words of others but many of the things he
says are simply untrue or grossly exaggerated.
Agreed Beverly. We need live stream and
digitally recorded videos of public meetings for
residents and voters to formulate their own
opinions. You’re the spouse of a current City
Councilmember, Jonathan Sharkey. Perhaps that’s
why you’re no longer employed as a guest
columnist for the VC Star. Mixing politics and
journalism is dangerous business. Having a
different opinion (such as that provided by Mr.
Dunn) is particularly important given the
obvious conflict you have in your marriage to
Councilmember Sharkey and his highly biased
“E-Pilot” publication.
The city is not on the brink of collapse. A need
for serious spending cuts does not equal
bankruptcy.
Again, I agree Beverly. But given the urgency of
making spending cuts, why is it your husband
Jonathan Sharkey and his Old Guard colleagues
(Breeze and Scnopp) continue to advocate and
vote for discretionary expenditures such as
recreational programs, library services,
lifeguards, etc. without a plan for how to pay
for the associated costs?
There are no lawsuits pending.
I’m uncertain as to the status of claims that
have been filed against the City and whether
they’ve morphed to lawsuits. What I do know is
that the number of claims that have been filed
total in excess of $10 million. Most of these
claims come under the watch of (or can be
attributable to) the Old Guard City Council of
which you spouse, Jonathan Sharkey, is a part.
HUD has not completed its
findings.
Beverly, please be honest with the members of
“Neighborhood.” This is a social network and
should not be used as a political platform. HUD
released its findings in early October of last
year. The Fed’s are seeking repayment of $2.4
million in unauthorized expenditures that
occurred under the watch of your husband,
Councilmember Jonathan Sharkey. I requested that
this information be released to the public as
soon as it was received, but my request was not
heeded.
The City Manager did not divide the council.
According to the editorial in the VC STAR,
"There is no secret that the struggling City
Council became dysfunctional with the 2014
election of two outsiders, Tom Figg and Jim
Hensley. The two have consistently and regularly
fought the three-member council majority and
city administration over nearly every action
imaginable."
Beverly, again please be honest with the
residents. Jim Hensley and I unseated two former
incumbents while your husband (Jonathan Sharkey;
Mayor at the time) retained his seat as a
distant third in the total vote. You and VCS may
characterize the current Council as being
“dysfunctional” but there’s a reason that Jim
and I were voted into office…..the voters wanted
change. It’s truly unfortunate that the Old
Guard majority haven’t embraced that edict,
resulting in 3-2 votes on current issues.
Closed
